Huckleberry Trail Bridge Update

Posted Date: 4/13/2011

The Huckleberry Trail Bridge over Southgate Drive was closed on March 30 due to corrosion of structural supports. Following an inspection of the bridge engineers have determined the bridge needs to be replaced. Installation of a new bridge should be completed by late summer.

The Town of Blacksburg has installed temporary stairs leading to a crosswalk on Southgate Drive to provide trail users access to both sides of the Huckleberry Trail. There is also an entrance on Country Club Drive for trail users heading south on the trail wishing to bypass the temporary crossing.
Please use caution when using the temporary crossing. Drivers should also be aware of the new crossing and yield to pedestrians and cyclists.
Continue to enjoy using the Huckleberry Trail. For more information, contact the Engineering and GIS Department at (540) 961-1126.

  2. That's a whole latte signs there! I guess they're not taking any chances. And I'm glad they did supply a temporary crossing, so the walking can continue ... Walk on ...

  3. That's hilarious! Where did they think you were going to go? Hope the project gets as much attention as the posting of signs;)
