Because Life is so Kissable

The cutest clients ever - Backyard Garden, Blacksburg VA April 30, 2012

Being a portrait photographer is such a fine way to spend an morning. Spring time fills my hours with wonderful people who come into my garden to play. I can forget all those millions of things I think I want to do,  should do,  could do, - and haven't just yet.

My mind becomes content, I am focused and completely on where I need to be.  The moment when the frog peeks out and grabs their attention, or when a barefoot child dips a toe into the pond. The moment when that pensive smile blooms into a full faced laugh. We do laugh - a lot. And we talk about things like, "maybe that frog needs some lotion for his bumpy skin" and "those look like really happy shoes" and "worms are fun to hold" and "would you like a bite of my peanut butter and jelly sandwich?" and "isn't she so kissable?"

 It is more than enough.

Recycle, Reuse,Reduce ---------------------- But I Think I Mean ...Reconnect

Kitchen Counter, Blacksburg VA- June 2, 2010

Ok it is like this-

If you live in the same small town for over 20 years,
there are lots of people you "know".
Then there is Facebook.
And the "I got on it to reconnect with the kids thing."
Not that the kids really wanted to friend their parents,
but they did.
(With the highest privacy settings I am sure.)

So fast forward about a two years and about 100 or so friends later.
It crosses your mind
when you reach the 100 friends mark
that maybe this is
really dumb.
Especially when about 1/2 your friends
are your own siblings and your nieces and nephews ,
not to mention your 72 year old father.
But then a strange thing starts to happen-
You throw caution to the wind
and start adding those people you used to play tennis with 10 years ago-
Certain people know how to do Facebook
Just a bit about your kids, your life, your job and suddenly people like
Lou Anne and Robin feel like they know you all over again.
So now you know what their kids are doing,
and that their mother in law is visiting - unexpectedly.
Then you know what happens??
You run into the them in Barnes and Noble
and you have something to talk about again!

And then they invite themselves to lunch
because they have
ALWAYS
wanted to see your house -
well and spend time with you.

So you do -
and they bring cookies and homemade ice tea.
It is a wonderful world.

So many ways to  Recycle - I mean Reuse - I mean Reduce-
I mean  Reconnect
Thanks for a great afternoon!

AND that concludes my
longest ever
written
post-
I need a nap-

Let's see ...

T
hanks for being here.
