Related to Unflinching

Related to Unflinching by Teri H Hoover
December 14, 2014

Related to UNFLINCHING-     Synonyms
determined, dogged, grim, implacable, relentless, unappeasable, unyielding, unrelenting

You are related to unflinching. If your feeling courageous you might even admit it.

The word that holds my heart is unrelenting. I used it to describe a photo my brother just sent me. It is not mine to share. So with words imagine.

A view through a door with a window to a small dimly lit mud room. Perched on a small table a rail thin woman, with her toes hanging, forgotten, over the edge. She is turned away from us and looks out a window into the dark, cold evening. Her arms are curled up around her and her bald head rests in her lovely hand.

The photo is possibly one of the most beautiful images I have ever seen.

 It is terribly beautiful.

It is unrelenting.

a prayer for all those suffering- xo teri

In the Garden

My great-grandmothers quilt-  Blakcsburg, VA- February 23, 2011

Standing in my great-grand mothers flower garden
I cross the generations with one  gentle step.

The ebb and flow of faith. I catch the wave of faith with just  enough momentum to overcome a feeling of dread. It took nearly all day to talk myself down from the edge. Mindful breathing while walking the dog. More mindful breathing while walking through the grocery store. At 5AM they arrived- yes 5 AM. It is not them I dread but the accompanying reminders and memories. But as always once I am submerged in the pool the fear subsides (or goes it just go deeper?).  But I digress they came with a a gift. This gift holds more power than I am able to hold. I set my gift on the floor with the greatest of care. The gift of a quilt from my 100 year old grandmother- the gift of a quilt made by her mother. I am in heaven.

Fighting the Crowds

Verbier, Switzerland- Feb 2, 2011

There are times when I cannot say anymore-
Unspoken expectations of what things are best
and no place to escape.
Pushing me into a place where I cannot breathe.

Let's see ...

T
hanks for being here.
