Pausing...

Guest Heart Thursday- March 9, 2012

Park City, Utah -March 3, 2012

A couple of clouds in a winter sunset-
leave just enough room for a sunny heart.

Even the clouds pause sometimes.

The Inside Outness-Flying Home

The inside outness- yes, that is what I meant to say.  Life seems all inside out.  We had spring in January and winter in March.  There have been surges of energy right after a let down. And juxtapositions of unlikely things- that flow together.

And I have looked at clouds from above.

Eastbound from Park City to Atlanta, March 3, 2012
Droid phone photo- I took at least 20 of these little cell phone photos - it is always so enlightening to see our planet from an airplane.

Before Sunset

Blacksburg, VA- Feb 1 2012

In the year since my old phone was declared beyond repair I have come to rely on my "smart" phone for emails, time, texts, music (hooked on my pandora station), calendar, alarm,  recipes, directions, finding out which direction the United States Flag should be on when it is on a stage, texting or emailing myself reminders and things I want to write about it, AND photos. Lots of photos. Photos like the one above.  It shouldn't be ok for a photographer to be satisfied with an image that comes from a device that fits in the palm of her hand.

But I am.

empty house

December 27, 2011- Small Stones
empty house   by  Teri H Hoover

`

Clouds relinquish the sun.
The sun fills dark places.

Brightly through my kitchen window.
Filling now the quiet spaces.
Now settling on my dog and warming my shoulder.
Plunging the world into light.
The computer screen covered in my reflection.
Trusting fingers to type through mouth lines and golden hair.

`
PST (Post stone thoughts)
Like a whimsical melody, husband glides by my window on his bike.
Momentarily he is through the door,
"It rained and sunned on me-".
He disappears into the bedroom to change.
From the closet, I hear my husband singing a childhood rhyme;

"We do the hokey pokey and turn ourselves around- that's what my Teri is all about."

He likes to insert our names into songs... I am sure he was not even aware of his singing. Coincidentally, I am pondering my word or phrase to "think on with intention" this coming year. (2011 I had the word "balance" as my go to word.- and it was most useful-I should write about it, I am unsure I will get to it). I have played with the word trust- trust in  leaving fear for brief moments to allow joy. But also trust that I can be unjoyful and know there is the option of  turning myself around. I tend to be a joy minimizer. (This has been a step by step process for me.) Sadness, contentment, gratefulness, sure. However, joy seems over the top. I think I see my direction. Time to walk the dog.

promises

Sometimes I write- from my small stones blog..

August 3, 2011 Small Stones
promises by Teri H Hoover

Huckleberry Trail, Blacksburg, Va - Aug 3, 2011

The idea of release hangs in the heavy clouds
beyond the path in front of me.
One stray raindrop finds freedom-
the rest break a promise and stay cloud bound.

Embracing the Mountain

Verbier, Switzerland- Jan 30 2011

By sheer force
the mountain stood  unmoving.

But I maintained the focus
of a cloud embracing a mountain.

But that is not as easy as it looks.

and perseverance
(Oh and by the way it is 31 days)

This little stone was absolutely, beyond a doubt the most obstacle filled endeavor in writing in my life.  I have worked for 1 hour just to get into my google account and another hour to get into my blogger account. And now that I am here my spell check thinks everything should be in German... Anything I google also comes out in German.  Or it looks like it is German.

The lovely group has all arrived and we have commenced to enjoying our first evening together. Most everyone will go out skiing tomorrow- I however will take the day to explore and maybe figure out the computer issues-Can we say internet cafe?

So you say there is one more for tomorrow-- the last one- to complete the 31 day challenge-- yup it appears I was off by a day - I never was very good with numbers.

Almost

Huckleberry Trail, Blacksburg- VA- Jan 26, 2011

With intention the darkness breathed into the clouds.
The inhale was deep sapphire.
The exhale was soft indigo.

I almost stayed home.
The rain, the sleet, the snow, the tired Teri-almost  kept me from going out.
I almost did not take this photo with my cell phone, yes my cell phone. Almost is a good place to be.

An Easy Unbalance

Blacksburg, VA- Jan 13, 2011

-words slipped from her mind
like the setting of the sun in winter-

At my mid morning class as I lay on my back -
I observed my body's unbalanced feeling.
My left side felt grounded and connected.
my right side was tight and unmanageable

Too many late nights on the computer will do that.

Un
balanced

It was suggested to envision an
intertwining
of sides while deep breathing.
And to  incorporate asymmetrical poses-
maybe tomorrow-

Leafless arthritic branches

Outstretched

Edgeless winter clouds

Subdued
Glissading

Weekend Reflections

Heritage Park, Blacksburg, VA - Nov 7, 2010

Backyard Birdbath, Blacksburg, VA- Nov 7, 2010

Sometimes the reflections are so enticing.
Such pretty little pieces.
Sometimes I loose God in the distractions.
Fretting over details.

But he leaves his calling card of beauty -
and

I am
re-minded
to be still

so I do not
fall
to pieces
over details

We Have Got You Surrounded

Taos, NM- 06-07-10

Surrendering without feeling lost-
I sit with power all around me.
I am blessedly calm.

Breathe in

Pause

Breathe out

Pause

Repeat

The Artist at Dusk

New Smyrna Beach , FL- Sept 13, 2010

 God's paintbrush was loaded
with some of my favorites tonight.

We found the best seats in the house-
and set our  beach chairs down.
While we ate dinner
a steady wind off the water
kept the hair out of our eyes.

Colors disappeared -

And we were surrounded
by
   the sound
of crashing waves
and
the feel
of the luscious dark wind.
