Hello my name is Teri and I am a fabric-aholic.  Seriously, I do have a bit of fabric. I am blessed to be part of  two quilting groups. Today I was working a group of quilters who meet at the Blacksburg Presbyterian church, 2 Tuesdays a month. We trundle in with sewing  machines and project bags; working for 3-4 hours. I am usually late and only work about 2 hours. The above small stone (written observation) came about while sewing on my nearly completed quilt (started the week of December 5th).  Just call me the fabric liberator.

the final bit of quilt binding is sewn in place.

My dog looks up from her place on the quilt

it would have been my nephews 23rd birthday.

I delay

I doubt

I do not

I begin another project

I wait

I wonder

 I do

But with a courageous courage, I pick up where I left off.

Remembering why I started-

These colors bring me relief-

These movements relieve my doubt.

Do you have things you start and never finish? Do you have things you start that were a statement to you as a new beginning? This quilt I started in May 2001. Yes I did.  It represented a turning point in my life- one where I would find what and where I had left myself before children. The central part of the quilt was put together in three days. The border however, the edges that framed the quilt top stopped me cold. Three years later I decided on to use a "Seminole border" and began to by cutting each little square, making sure the centers of the light blue had a flower in it. Ok, I guess you can say I am a bit fussy-(this type of work in quilting is called "fussy cutting"). I then found out there was an easier way to do all this- and I stopped completely. 

Fast forward 10 years later... As you may know last year I put together a quilt top in  a year. (It is currently at my friend Linda's house and she is machine quilting that  king size endeavor.) With that on the way to completion I decided that it is time to finish my new beginnings quilt. So now I have 3 out of 4 borders put on!  Stay tuned for further escapades in perseverance. A River of Stones- a 30 day challenge in observing

One year and one day ago I started this quilt top.

I had a pattern but of course I did not stick to that.

I had a timetable.

A very realistic time table
with plenty of time to wander and return.

The next step will be to hand the quilt over
(to a friend)
to be machine quilted-

Another realistic move-
it is 
too BIG
to hand quilt.

make this post really fun.

My answer:
  I am a lion in sheep's clothing-
kind of scary huh? 

My work style tends to be rather 
 me
                 and
ering

and
indirect -

but my courage bubbles up 
and keeps me moving in a general direction.

With that my quilt top is completed!

Delayed by a day-

Done in a year and a day.

I have been working on this quilt for our bed- since January. I have completed the 16 blocks for the top and sewn them together.

This photo is showing the border that I was auditioning, it is not attached yet. I hope to do that tomorrow before my quilting meeting. It is going to be tricky because we have yoga in the morning and car tire place in the afternoon. 

Aren't these colors something else?

This group project (by the ladies at Blacksburg Presbyterian Church) is coming along beautifully. They are nice enough to allow me to hang out with them. Next week I am going to actually bring my sewing machine and work on one of my neglected quilting projects. Really.
