The Waiting Place

This collage was created in response to a prompt by Bonnie over at Pixel Dust Photo Art.
See below for the process.

of long waiting love

I have a husband who travels. I used to really like when he would leave. It gave me time to find what ever it was and create and move things around. But I think I am over that, or I find I can do all that even when he is around. I have curved into a new me that would just rather have him around. This surprises him as much as it does me.

The image creation process: I am a bit photoshop challenged when it comes to integrating layers so this was a big attempt. So here is the first photo I used. It is of a wall around a huge statue of Buddha in China. I went to China with my husband in 2007. I have almost recovered.  I took over 4000 photos. It is lots of fun to play with some of these photos.

I settled on using the last version (I think I used the "find edge" filter- or it could have been posterization filter.) Just look at all those CURVES!  (my focus word for the year.)

Then I added several other images of mine and came up with the image above. I must say I am pretty pleased.

On another note. It is April. In the Northern hemisphere in Virginia it is usually spring time. I had 16 cubic yards of mulch delivered at 1:30 today. It is now covered in 4 inches of snow. This little angel in the backyard collected some snow in her basket. I don't think I need mulch if the yard is covered in snow.

  2. oh what a fabulous creation! ohhh so you have some snow toooooo. Isn't this a weird year with so much snow so late in the season. I love winter but for some reason this year it is beginning to gag me:):) Your little snow angel is sweeeet. Hope all is well with you and yours and that the Easter bunny was good to you....take care.

  3. You have done an awesome job with this. It is hard to "get over" taking
4000 photos in one trip. I can totally empathize! Great creation!

  5. beautifully rendered. Love your little snowy heart angel. I am fortunate that my husband has rarely had to travel over the years... it is hard to miss someone we love, and interesting to observe how our vision of ourself of what we need changes over time.

  8. oh my!!! this is gorgeous and breathtakingly so!! lovely curves. lovely processing and editing.

it is hard when we love someone who is BEyond our view so much, and yet I find it has deepened my understanding of love, too. perhaps BEcause I have mostly loved from a distance. at times I have enJOYed this aspect of my Life and at others I have rebelled and been very sad. it is a curious creature, Love. like BEauty, it amazes me with its many forms and possibilities.

  11. I can't even imagine knowing how to create a collage like this. Each element lends to the total impact. I also like your poem, though I sometimes still enjoy time alone. However, I only enjoy it knowing he will return! I bet all your snow is melted by now. We only got an inch today - maybe will have a bit more by morning. This was a Front Range storm - Denver and suburbs got more. Thank you for your kind words.

  12. You added a rainbow! The curves appear as a stairway to what's beyond, and I wonder where they lead, what answers are out there. When I had kids at home I desperately wanted Ken at home but so often his work took him out of town. Now that it's just me I relish the time at home alone ~ I keep my own schedule, spread projects throughout the house, eat what and when I want, and have time to think things through. It works for me and when he comments that I no longer miss him I explain that I changed to accommodate him so he really has no reason to complain:)
