the naive tree with the protection of a youthful exterior
wore the clinging vine like a prom dress

~There was a wise woman without judgment~
remembering her moments of blissful departure
before the soft sweet vines began to bind.
Long ago entanglements, she valiantly had packed away.
The wild deformities became her own and raised eruptions on her skin.
Looking lightly lately
with gentle hands
away she pulled from holding.
gingerly
bit by bit
release.
Now so clearly she could see
they were less than all she thought they'd be

imprints like lace tattoos
on the protective layer of her heart.
Elegant traces of lessons learned-
Learning again to return
to grace.

Imprints like lace tattoos on the heart ... A beautiful line, that says so much about the permanence of our experiences, moments, and the way they become a part of us.
