My quilt group the The Easy Piecers (aka The Easy Geezers)
Our third annual event
Fill a cart for a family in need-
This idea is a take off from another group I belong to (lovingly referred to as the "sistas"). The "sistas" for over 20 years have donated to a family in need every Christmas. My quilting group has heard me talk about this to excess and decided they wanted to do a similar thing
Basically we locate a family (with 2-3 children) in our community - through the schools, churches or other agency. We then are told how many children there are, their age, gender and size. We each bring $50. Then we shop spending $125 on each child and do a gift card for food. Then we turn over our gifts to the family liaison and they in turn get the gifts to the family. We also make a lap quilt for each member of the family. We are quilters after all!
After shopping we head share a meal in one of our homes- Can you tell this table was set by a quilter? What fun fabric. What a wonderful evening- Thanks Geezers!
